Harvesting Storms!

Fereydoun Majlessi *

After one and a half years of comprehensive negotiations over the limits of Iran’s nuclear activities and the lifting of the imposed sanctions, when hopes of reaching an agreement before the deadline are emerging, internal and external hardliners and warmongers have increased their destructive activities by putting their voices together with that of Israel and its regional allies to add fuel to the fire.

Among them, Henry Kissinger, former US National Security Advisor and Secretary of State, has expressed that accepting the Iranian request to keep some thousands of active centrifuges for uranium enrichment and "depriving" other countries of such a right is "impossible"; and that in case of offering such a "concession" to Iran, rival countries in the region, including Saudi Arabia, will try to acquire the nuclear bomb!

Such an unwise logic was not expected - at least not from such a seasoned and over-experienced statesman! As if Saudi Arabia or any other nations do not have the right of enrichment for peaceful purposes! Or it seems that some of the Western countries want to monopolize enrichment rights for their own private club and internal circles. I have no interests in nuclear energy and its preoperational or demolition processes, but this Kissingerian logic in supporting Netanyahu and his republican friends in the US Congress reminds me of the wolf standing upstream and blaming the lamb drinking downstream for muddying the water. Our problem [in Iran], as our saying goes, is sitting sober among drunkards who have provided enough pretext for  the imposing of sanctions by the UN Security Council, with the participation and support of "friends" such as China and Russia! Kissinger most probably knows that the generator of Al-Qaida, Taliban, ISIS and the Salafi movement is none other than Saudi Arabia, their own close friend; thus, he is not worried about their nuclear bomb, when the bomb of ignorance and fanaticism is more dangerous than the nuclear one! Pakistan, who has been the broker of Saudi Arabia’s wishes, has already had THE BOMB for many decades now. Saudi Arabia is dreaming of an Islamic Caliphate and has established and continued its politics on fighting the two obstacles of the Persian Dari language and Shiism. Have the Western partners not seen enough of car bombs, suicide bombings, explosives planted on the sides of roads, sides of mosques, sides of hotels? Enrichment let aside, the Pakistani bomb itself is cash at the Saudi disposal. So, what are they worried about? Supposing someone said something eight years ago and dismissed a world decision as a worthless piece of paper. Presently, what do the West and Arabs want from a nation who, by enjoying its conventional rights and freedoms, wants to live and do business? What do they have in mind? After all, what has Iran done? Has Iran invaded other people’s land?  Has Iran imprisoned people inside their own homes and nests and destroyed their farms and gardens under the pretext of satisfying its own needs? Have Iranians killed six million Jews? Did they revengefully bomb and kill the people of Hamburg and Dresden when the war was already over?  Did they drop nuclear bombs on any cities?  Did they Kill 20 to 30 million people in Siberia, Poland, Afghanistan, Eastern Europe and Central Asia for their dominant ideological purposes? Did they plunder, bleed and kill people in Algeria, on the black continent, or elsewhere, when those people had nothing to do with the colonizing Mother country? Then what has happened to make the likes of Kissinger gather the entire world around them and plot against a nation with only one percent of the land and one percent of the world’s population? Has Iran killed Western scientists in their homes and on their streets? Has Iran created and used internet viruses against the bioinformatics systems and industries of other countries who stand up and cry out for the law when faced with similar invasions?  Why does the West not comply with a just, rational, and clear solution? Why are they frustrating a hopeful and moderate people and creating resentment in their hearts? Why do they create hatred and seek evil and violence, when ignoble, violent, and destructive reactions are already abundantly available? What are lacking are reasoning, moderation, peace, logic, coexistence, business and living. Kissinger must know that a group of moderate, rational statesmen who believe in equity and equilibrium, and who depend on the electoral votes and support of their nation, are currently holding discussions with the representatives of his country, and have no expectations other than a reciprocal just, lawful, and respectful treatment! Iran has placed its nuclear activities under the scrutiny and monitoring of international inspectors, within the framework of international laws.  Please remember how Iran suffered during a long and harmful war in which the missiles pouring on their homes and cities were provided by you all, and it reserves the right to prepare and equip itself for defence. Moderate and rational treatment will bring about a moderate and rational response. It is better for Mr Kissinger to advise his fellow country senators to treat the negotiating team in a just, coherent manner, instead of providing false excuses for the sabotage of the hardliner opponents! Remind them of your own proverb “He who plants winds harvests storms.”
